The Maps of Joseph Charles Minard
Late in his life, Joseph Charles Minard created two statistical charts that any student of information design should be well aware. One showed Hannibal’s march over the Alps in 218 BC, while the other showed the French invasion of Russia during 1812.
In the case of the map of the French invasion, Edward Tufte has called it the best statistical graphic ever produced. This poster includes both graphics in addition to explaining their importance and providing the history of the events they describe. 2-tone Color, printed on acid-free archival quality paper.
